Cartographical Paintings at the Vatican

A few months back I had visited the Vatican and saw these beautiful frescos of maps painted by hand. These maps are hundreds of years old when people sailed and marched by foot to places. Its amazing that they are close to 90% accurate in their description. Most of these maps are painted topographical maps of Italy based on drawings by friar and geographer Ignazio Danti. I love the colors esp. azure blue contrasting with the dark olive green, painting of terrain and gosh they even have some fabulously detailed sail boats at sea.
